Organic Body Wash (Castile Soap Review)

I’m very keen about what I put into my body. However, we should also be careful about what comes into contact with our skin regularly, especially on a daily basis. In fact, some research claims that putting chemicals on our skin may be more dangerous than eating them because they are absorbed directly into our blood stream rather than filtered through our digestive systems. I therefore decided to seek a safe alternative to my shower gel.

I was particularly concerned about it being free of artificial foaming agents, artificial fragrances, chemical detergents and toxic anti-bacterial agents which most commercial soaps and shower gels contain. I came across Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soap and I haven’t looked back since. This soap is not a detergent which is very important. It is an all natural vegetable oil-based soap containing ingredients such as coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, hemp oil as well as water and essential oils. This makes it natural, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. It is also made with organic and certified free trade ingredients.

Apart from being free of toxic chemicals, it also has the benefit  of being long-lasting. All you need for one shower is 3-4 drops on a flannel and it lathers very easily in both soft and hard water because of its rich oil content. I purchased this bottle two months ago and it still isn’t at its halfway mark!

Another great thing about this soap is its versatility. Although I am currently using it as onlya body wash, I’ve also heard of great results from people who use it as a shampoo as well as a face wash.  There are so many other ways that you can incorporate this cheap and safe soap into daily life – in fact, almost any cleaning task:

  • Dishwashing soap
  • Cleaning fruits and vegetables
  • Toothpaste
  • Hair and makeup brush cleaner
  • Laundry detergent
  • Floor cleaner
  • Washing pets

This soap comes in a variety including baby unscented, peppermint, circus, lavender, almond, rose, tea tree, eucalyptus and citrus. I’m currently using almond. I’d love to know which one you’re using and how your using it around your home!  I purchased by bottle at Holland and Barrett and it is also available on Amazon.
