Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

Do you ever wake up in the morning and want to have ice cream for breakfast? This smoothie bowl is the perfect option if you ever want to have a healthy meal and also satisfy your sweet tooth in the morning.

We often consider smoothies as drinks for a hot summer day (which is making me really want one now!) The basic idea is to make a thicker smoothie which then makes a filling and very nutritious breakfast option.

What makes this so delicious is that you can customise it to your own perfection by adding your own flavour to the smoothie with cacao powder, avocado, kale or strawberries plus then top it with your won choice of fruits and nuts. Creating this bowl of perfection takes less than 10 minutes!

Today morning I had a chocolate smoothie bowl which I had been craving for a long while. I topped it with bananas, dates, grapes, coconut and tangerines.

[ingredients title=”Ingredients”]
  • 2 Bananas (ripe)
  • 3tbsp Cacao powder or chocolate powder (dairy-free)
  • 2tbsp Dairy free milk (soy, almond, oat or coconut milk)Assorted fruits and nuts for toppings, e.g. peanuts, dates, grapes, coconut, strawberries, tangerines, cashew nuts, kiwis, sunflower seeds.
[/ingredients] [directions title=”Directions”]
  1. Add all smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Add more milk (or water) to thin.
  2. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more ripe banana (or maple syrup) for added sweetness or thinkness or cacao powder for a richer chocolate flavour.
  3. Pour into a serving bowl and top with desired toppings!
This tastes best when fresh, although you may keep any leftovers in jars in the fridge for up to 1-2 days.
