Carrot, Orange, Ginger Juice

Sometimes I just need a pick-me up at the start of my day or in the middle of a busy day to give me an instant energy boost. This juice does that!!! It’s hydrating, refreshing, is filled with so many essential vitamins and therefore great as a detox juice as well.

At first, carrots in juice seemed quite intimidating but I’ve grown to love it. It reminds me of when I was in Class 2 in primary school and my mom got me a carrot cake to share with my friends. I felt so embarrassed since we were used to fudge cake, black forest cake… you know? But then, the funniest thing is that EVERYONE loved the cake! It was amazing. Ok, that’s very typical of me to find a way to talk about cake but back to this yummy juice!

Carrots contain beta carotene which is a great source of Vitamin A, B, C, K, E, magnesium and potassium and calcium. That’s why it’s good for skin, eyesight, anti-inflammation and reliving congestion. Did your mum keep telling you to eat carrots as well so that you would have good eyesight? Yup! The oranges are a great addition to the juice which give it a naturally sweet zesty taste. They are a great source of Vitamin C and K. Oh! Plus the ginger … don’t get me started. The ginger is the secret here! It gives this juice a kick plus is anti-inflammatory.

The simple recipe is below. The juice is also available to sample at my weekly stand at the organic farmers markets in Karen and Kilimani or to order (see the ‘Products’ page).

Do let me know if you try it out. Leave a comment, rate it and share it! Plus always try to drink your juice once you prepare it to get its full nutritional value. Cheers!
