I have oatmeal for breakfast almost every day but it’s never boring! Topping it with mangoes today made me miss picking the sweetest mangos straight from my grandfather’s farm in Meru, Kenya with my brothers and eating them one after another for hours!!
A friend recently asked me what I have for breakfast as a dairy and gluten-free alternative. It may seem that every possible breakfast option has either of these.
I have oatmeal for breakfast every day but it never gets boring. I treat it as a blank canvas and sprinkle diverse nutritious fruits and seeds as toppings. I also love it as a post-workout meal in the morning as oats release energy slowly which makes me fuller for a longer duration.
This breakfast recipe is very easy, health and delicious. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

Didn’t know you could add coconut milk to oats. Been having oats with blue berries and it’s been wonderful .
Thank you for the feedback Hilda! That’s wonderful! I think that oats are one of the best gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives for breakfast. Yes, coconut milk is great. I use one that’s for drinking rather than for cooking and mix it with water when preparing my oats. Perfect!
