Chocolate Hazelnut Spread (Nutella)

My brothers and I would eat so much Nutella when we growing up that my mum refused to ever buy it again! One large jar would hardly make it through a week. Now that I’ve discovered a healthier spread I may be heading down that road again! This chocolate spread tastes so amazing. It’s so creamy, smooth, sweet and it’s ridiculous how similar it tastes to Nutella! Plus the recipe is so simple! I like to add it to my oat porridge in the morning or even on a slice of banana. Go on and try it! You know you want to.

  • 200g raw hazelnuts
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 3tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup filtered water

  1. If you’re using raw hazelnuts, an optional step is to bake the hazelnuts at 180C for about 10 minutes. I personally prefer them baked and keep the skins on but you can take them off if you like.
  2. Place all the ingredients into a food processor, and blend for about 3 minutes until smooth and creamy while periodically scraping down the sides of the container.
  3. Transfer to a sealed glass container, and keep in the fridge. [/directions]
